POSITION: TRUSTEE

Eleni is seeking committed and dynamic new Board members with experience of engaging with the public in the private or not-for-profit sector, excellent advocacy skills and a passion for the mission and values of Eleni.

 
Eleni is the dance development organisation for Flintshire, Denbighshire and Wrexham, revenue funded by the Arts Council of Wales.
 
The mission of Eleni is to foster the cultural, individual and social wellbeing of communities in north east Wales by providing opportunities to dance, and promoting excellence and innovation in their work in education and community settings.

 

About the role


Trustees have responsibility for the strategic direction, governance and development of the organisation, which is based in Deeside, Flintshire.

Eleni welcomes candidates from all backgrounds and applications are particularly sought from those with knowledge in the following areas:

  • Finance & Accountancy – you will have proven skills and experience in finance and accountancy in order to support the financial processes of the charity.

  • Legal & HR – you will have proven skills and experience in the legal and Human Resources sectors in order to offer guidance and advice concerning staffing, current legislation relevant to charities, and related matters.

  • Health, Social Care and/or Criminal Justice – you will have proven knowledge and experience within one (or more) of these sectors in order to support this vital strand of Eleni’s programme of activities.

  • Marketing and/or Fundraising – you will have proven knowledge and experience in creating and developing marketing campaigns (printed/online), or applying for funding from trusts and/or foundations in order to support the charity’s ongoing community projects.


Role description
 

Trustees will be required to: 

  • Oversee the effective, efficient administration and financial stability of Eleni

  • Ensure that the organisation complies with its governing documents, charity and company law, as well as any other relevant legislation or regulations

  • Analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences

  • Provide governance to ensure successful implementation of Eleni’s business plan and strategic objectives

  • Represent and advocate for Eleni in order to champion the charity’s work and goals, and the transformative power of dance in the region

  • Have good communication, diplomacy and inter-personal skills

  • Collaboratively maintain satisfactory systems of control in respect of legal, operational and financial risk management 

  • Support and develop working relationships with the core staff team and freelance dance artists

  • Be willing to attend occasional sub-committee meetings as required

 

Time commitment


Trustee Board meetings are held four to six times a year. Other time commitments may include attending additional committee meetings, championing the charity in external networks and developing influential partnerships. There will also be plenty of opportunities to experience first-hand the work of the company at private project sharings, community events, and larger-scale public performances.
