The Company

Eleni is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee and was was formed in 1998, originally as North East Wales Community Dance.  In 2002 it became a limited company (North East Wales Dance / Dawns Gogledd-ddwyrain Cymru) and moved to the Llangollen Pavilion in Denbighshire.  In September 2009 the Company was renamed NEW Dance. Our office is now located in Flintshire, at Deeside Leisure Centre in Queensferry and the company has just been through an exciting period in its development,  rebranding and implementing our new business plan. Our Remit

 

Eleni is the community dance development organisation for Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham in north east Wales. The company is based at Deeside Leisure Centre, Flintshire and the core team comprises the Artistic Director, an Administrator,  and a Lead Dance Practitioner/Project Coordinator (which is this post)/. Dance activities are carried out by a team of professional dance practitioners.

 

Eleni is a registered charity revenue funded by the Arts Council of Wales and receives additional funding from the three local authorities of Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham.

 

Eleni’s activity consists of a range of creative and inspiring classes and workshops in different dance styles and projects carefully developed to suit the needs of all ages and abilities in both schools and communities.

 

Eleni’s activity take place over a geographical area stretching from the coastal area of north Flintshire, to densely populated parts of Wrexham and rural areas of Denbighshire. 

 

The company works with many types of groups including hard to reach young people, special needs children and adults, mature people, more technically advanced young dancers who may progress onto professional training, and both Welsh and English medium groups.

 

Eleni has gained a reputation for excellence and has achieved great success in encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get up and dance for the first time; in empowering dance participants to perform alongside professional dance companies; and establishing and growing a dance audience throughout north east Wales.

 

Person Specification

 

Eleni is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experience project coordinator to fulfil an important role in our creative dance development organisation.

 

This role offers an ideal opportunity for a progressive and dynamic person to support the growth of this proactive dance organisation.

 

Eleni is looking to recruit someone who is able to deliver a range of dance sessions to all ages and abilities to support its diverse programme of activity.

Qualifications and other Requirements

  • Degree or up to two years experience working as a project coordinator

  • One year expereince of delivering dance sessions

  • Welsh speaker/Welsh language learner

  • Driving licence/ability to commute effiently

Roles and responsibilities:

 

  • To coordinate a range of dance projects, events and initiatives in community, health and social care, criminal justice and educational settings. This could include but not be limited to multi-art form projects, workshops targeted to gifted and talented pupils, dance and health projects, initiatives aimed at hard to reach young people, projects in secondary schools and inclusive dance workshops

  • To coordinate performances, projects and events in partnership with professional dance artists and companies

  • To lead dance classes, workshops and projects for all ages and abilities in both community and educational settings in a range of styles including creative contemporary dance

  • To liase with school teachers to promote and develop dance within their schools.

  • To coordinate training and professional development schedule for junior/trainee dance practitioners

  • To contribute to/coordinate the monitoring and evaluation data from programmes and projects and for written reports as required for funders

  • To attend meetings as appropriate and maintain close and effective communication with the Artistic Director and other staff as appropriate

  • Work effectively with staff to build public engagement and company profile, to advocate for Eleni and promote the highest professional standards at all times.

  • To work with an understanding of Eleni’s policies including Equal Opportunities and Child Protection policies at all times

  • To include any other duties commensurate with the role as directed by the Artistic Director
